The vascular medicine team diagnoses and treats problems with the blood vessels. Our vascular surgeon treats disease processes of the large blood vessels that run through the center of the body (aorta), as well as the vessels that nourish the neck, arms and legs.
This includes procedures such as angiography, balloon angioplasties and the placement of stents through blood vessels to prevent an open surgical operation (endovascular procedures). When a minimally invasive procedure is not possible, an open surgical bypass procedure is often the best option.
The vascular surgeon also treats varicose veins and creates hemodialysis access for patients with end-stage renal disease.
