If you are (or were) a heavy smoker, you probably worry about lung cancer. A lung cancer screening test could save your life. When caught early, survival rates increase dramatically. NorthBay Cancer Center and Solano Diagnostics Imaging (SDI) offers lung cancer screenings all year long.

What is a Lung Cancer Screening Test?

Lung cancer screening tests are done using a painless, low-dose CT scan. Screenings are fast, simple and can detect lung cancer at an early stage when it is more likely to be curable. Your scan will be reviewed by a board-certified radiologist and if cancer or a suspicious finding is detected, our team will review the results and communicate the findings with you and your doctor.

Who Should Get Screened?

Smoking is the No. 1 cause of lung cancer. Individuals between the ages of 50 and 80 years, who have a 20-year-pack history of smoking, and are a current smoker or quit less than 15 years ago are at higher risk for developing lung cancer and should consider a lung cancer screening test.

How much does it cost?

Many insurance companies, including Medicare, will cover the costs of screening if the patient meets high-risk criteria.
