As the region's referral center for premature and critically ill infants, NorthBay Health's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) gives nearly 180 babies each year the specialized medical care they need to grow healthy and strong.

Under the direction of medical director, Dr. Steven Gwiazdowski, the NICU is staffed with an expert team of nurses, doctors, therapists and support staff. It’s a state-of-the-art level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit available to you and your baby around the clock.

While your baby is in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, you will be actively involved in their care. Even the most critically ill babies will benefit from close skin-to-skin contact with their parents. Our goal is to get your baby home with you as soon as they are ready.

We know that having an infant in the NICU is stressful, and many times unexpected. Please take advantage of the resources we offer to help you through this difficult time. Ask any of our nurses to connect you with our social worker, lactation consultant, or chaplain.

Keep a Close Eye on Your Baby

We know how important it is to feel connected to your infant while they're in the NICU, and offer a free service for parents to view their baby 24/7 with NicView™. This innovative camera system streams real time images of your baby directly to your smartphone, laptop, tablet or computer. The streaming is done securely with encryption, similar to online banking. No one else can see your baby's images unless you share the log-in credentials, and the cameras don't transmit sound or record video.

You can learn more about this service from the NicView™ FAQ.

Funds to support this service were generously donated by: NorthBay Guild, Cordelia Rotary, and Solano Community Foundation grant.
