James Long, MD

James Melvin Long, MD, serves as a member of the Northbay Health Solano Community Board of Directors, bringing more than three decades of clinical expertise in oncology, hematology and patient-centered care. Dr. Long is a practicing oncologist as well as Northbay Health’s physician liaison to the Mayo Clinic Care Network, helping connect local patients with that organization’s world-class expertise. Dr. Long previously served as Medical Director of Medical Oncology at the Northbay Health Heidi Y Campini Cancer Center.

Known for his compassionate approach, Dr. Long built long-term relationships with patients facing complex cancer and blood disorders, guiding them with clarity, empathy and evidence-based care. His service on the board reflects his ongoing commitment to advancing exceptional, accessible healthcare for the communities of Solano, Napa and Yolo County.

Dr. Long earned his medical degree and completed specialty training in oncology and hematology after beginning his academic career as a physics major, ultimately choosing medicine to focus his life’s work on helping others.
