Corey Beausoleil, PA
Advanced Health Practitioner, NeurologyAs an oft injured high school/college athlete, I spent significant time in orthopedic physician's offices and physical therapy clinics. There, I was exposure to the healthcare system as a consumer at a young age.
The biomechanics of the human body have always fascinated me. Having the opportunity provide care and support to an individual and their loved ones during a time when they were most vulnerable is what initially attracted me to a career in medicine. It was an easy decision to become a physician assistant, once I was exposed to multiple disciplines of medicine.
As a physician assistant, I have the opportunity to practice medicine at a very high level in collaboration with my attending physicians. I am able to dedicate most of my time and energy into direct patient care throughout the course of a patient's illness.
My role in customizing and refining individual treatment plans with my physician counterparts is vital to improving treatment outcomes and the overall patient experience. As a member of the NorthBay Neuroscience treatment team, my primary role is to care for our inpatient population, making diagnoses, developing treatment plans, assisting in the operating room, making program improvements, and most importantly making an individual hospital stay as comfortable as possible.
As a neurosurgical physician assistant, I see everything from patients with mild arthritis to people in life-threatening situations. Helping a wide variety of patients and their families keeps the job interesting and challenging. And seeing our practice and patients thrive due to excellent care is extremely rewarding.
The unfortunate reality is that everyone will suffer from physical or mental ailments at some point in their life. My job is to be their strongest medical advocate during their time of need, and to make their experience at NorthBay Medical Center a positive one.
