HealthSpring Offers Reimbursements

Posted: July 29, 2020

With the doors of HealthSpring Fitness closed indefinitely due to the global pandemic, members are being asked to decide what to do with funds in their account.

Members need to indicate if they want to retain their membership until the facility reopens, or cancel their membership. They also need to indicate if they want to receive refunds for pre-purchased services, or retain them. The email with outlined options was sent on July 17, and choices should be made by July 31. Refunds should be processed by mid-August.

If you are a member and either did not receive the email, or haven’t yet indicated your wishes, you can revisit it here: Have your membership number handy.

Initial response to the request has been good, according to Scott Davis, vice president & chief strategy officer, with many asking to have their membership put on hold.

Closing HealthSpring Fitness in mid-March was a very difficult but necessary decision, according to Scott.

“HealthSpring is unique in that it is not only open to the general public, but also serves patients undergoing rehab and therapy,” Scott explained. “It is imperative that NorthBay set safety standards considerably higher than a typical workout gym, as many members are older and are more at risk than members in a typical gym setting.”

Now, with coronavirus cases climbing in Solano County, and as other gyms and fitness centers tried to reopen but recently were shut down, the prudent decision to keep HealthSpring closed is reaffirmed, Scott noted.

“Until we are thoroughly confident that HealthSpring can provide a safe environment for all of our members, we will keep the facility closed. We look forward to the day when this pandemic allows us to return to our normal way of life, including exercise, fitness and taking the best care of ourselves.”
