Their gift will fund critical equipment upgrades, new technology, and facility improvements, ensuring NorthBay Health remains a leader in medical innovation and accessible care for local families.

NorthBay Health, a leading healthcare system providing advanced and compassionate care to address critical, unmet healthcare needs throughout California’s North Bay, is proud to receive a $5,000,000 legacy gift from the late Al and Patt Shaw, a local couple deeply committed to advancing the health and vitality of their community and neighbors. The generous gift, which was part of their estate plans and a pledge made in 2019, will directly enhance NorthBay Health’s ability to provide advanced medical services and compassionate care to patients in need.

As longtime residents of Fairfield, the Shaws were known for their dedication to philanthropy, healthcare, family, and community well-being and over the years committed their time, passion, and financial support to NorthBay Health. This long-term commitment included the naming of the “Shaw Family Kitchen” at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield in their honor.

“The Shaw’s generosity and vision are truly inspiring,” said Paul McGinty, Chief Experience Officer and President of NorthBay Health Foundation. “Their legacy gift to NorthBay Health reflects their belief in the importance of accessible, high-quality healthcare and will leave a lasting mark for years to come.”

The funds from the Shaw’s gift will support significant investments including critical equipment upgrades, new technology, and facilities improvements. This transformative, thoughtful, and planned contribution will create a meaningful impact and ensure that NorthBay Health remains at the forefront of medical innovation and can meet the evolving needs of local families.

“Al and Patt were true philanthropists – they always believed in giving back to the community that meant so much to them,” said Bill Fell, NorthBay Health Foundation board member and longtime friend of the Shaws. “They would be so proud to know that their gift is helping to save lives and improve healthcare access.”

Legacy gifts from local residents like the Shaws play a crucial role in sustaining NorthBay Health’s mission to deliver advanced healthcare even closer to home.
