Earlier this month, NorthBay Health proudly dedicated and renamed the NorthBay Health Cancer Center as the Heidi Y Campini Cancer Center and James E Lawrenz Infusion Center, honoring valued community member and longtime supporter, Heidi Y Campini, and her late husband, James (Jim) E Lawrenz.
The building dedication ceremony brought together local community members, NorthBay Health leadership, physicians and employees, and elected officials to usher in a new chapter for cancer care in the region. It was a powerful moment of reflection on Heidi and Jim’s decades of philanthropy and how their efforts have enhanced the health and vitality of the community.
For over thirty years, Heidi and Jim have been steadfast supporters of NorthBay Health. Their transformational support helped shape the NorthBay Health Foundation’s mission, fueled the expansion of emergency and primary care services, and enabled the creation of the NorthBay Health Heart and Vascular Center. Their belief – that everyone deserves world-class care close to home, no matter their background or where they live – continues to guide NorthBay Health’s mission today.
“The Heidi Y Campini Cancer Center and James E Lawrenz Infusion Center stand as lasting tributes to Heidi and Jim’s shared belief that compassionate, exceptional care should be accessible to all. These centers are more than a building — they are symbols of hope, healing, and the power of community,” said Mark Behl, President and CEO of NorthBay Health.
The Heidi Y Campini Cancer Center will serve as a comprehensive cancer treatment hub, eliminating the need for patients and their loved ones to travel outside of the region for advanced cancer care.

Having local access to cutting-edge cancer treatments and technology is critical for patients undergoing frequent treatments, such as chemotherapy or radiation, which often require multiple visits per week.
“To give patients the best chance of living longer, healthier lives, we need to stay a step ahead of cancer and have access to the newest equipment and technology,” said Dr. James Long, Medical Director of the Heidi Y Campini Cancer Center. “Heidi and Jim’s contributions allow us to not only provide high-quality care but also address a patient’s holistic needs by offering social and financial support, nutrition education, and enhanced resources for caregivers.”
In addition to the center’s dedication, the ceremony featured the unveiling of floors one and three in Heidi and Jim’s honor.
“This center is a reflection of the life Jim and I built together – one rooted in love, community, and a deep belief in the importance of local healthcare," said honoree Heidi Y Campini. "It is a humbling and overwhelming honor to know that our strong support will help countless families facing a cancer diagnosis have access to everything they will need right here in our area. Hopefully this also inspires others in our community to contribute. Let's give local, give often, give generously, and repeat, so NorthBay Health can continue to provide world-class care along with true compassion."
